Consuelo Kanaga (1894 - 1978) was an female, American photographer and writer. Her most famous work is that of African-American people in New York City. Kanaga has even been called “One of America’s most transcendent yet, surprisingly, least-known photographers”. Her work ranged from photojournalism to portraiture, yet they all had such a common feeling surrounding them. Her work brings such a beautiful tie between the American scene of New York City while also celebrating individualism within each portrait of every person. I love every photo I have seen of hers as it is always something new to look at, but something familiar within each of them.
All work courteous of Consuelo Kanaga.
