Catherine Opie was one of the first female photographers I found when looking for LGBT+ artists. I had seen the photo of her back with the drawing on her back, but that was it. When I started looking into her work more, I fell more in love. Her portraiture work is really amazing. It is so different than most of the studio photos we are so used to seeing. Instead of the usual grey backdrop, she throws in purples and greens and people we wouldn't expect to be photographed so intimately. From drag queens to young kids of gay parents, she really is great at capturing diversity.
