Carolyn Drake is an American photographer based in Athens, Georgia. The majority of her work is personal documentary work, but she also does magazine editorial work and gives lectures. She has documented cultures in Asia numerous times and later went on to self-publish two books containing photographs from this time. I love Carolyn’s work because it goes against everything I do with my work, in the best way. I tend to make normal situations sad through photography but she has somehow made intense moments light and airy. She is able to bridge the gap between our emotions that we feel from a photograph.
