Although I'm not a huge fan of Annie Leibovitz's workplace attitude, her work is incredible. She was also on the previous list of artists that inspire me. Not only is she a woman, she's a lesbian - so she landed a spot on this list as well. Her work is a huge inspiration to me, though. For a long time, I wanted to be what I called an "Intimate, Celebrity, Portraiture Photographer". I wanted to be just like Annie. I wanted to be famous through my photos of people like Angelina Jolie, Susan Sarandon, and Meryl Streep. After taking the Black and White photography class with Jaclyn, my whole future changed. I no longer wanted to be that person. I realized my passion for documenting the lives around me and my own life in a more documentary/fine art way. So, her studio work was no longer much of an inspiration to my budding career, but her documentary-focused work continues to take my breath away.
